full view please

digital painting of two of my original characters, matthias crowe and atticus gates. i draw these kids (and others from the story) a lot.

this particular drawing of them portrays a scene in the story i'm writing called 'sanguine'.
- since there seems to be some confusion, no, i haven't spent a year and a half writing the story, and it is not a short story but instead novel-length. i started it about a year and a half ago and have been working on it on and off (mostly off) since. the time i've spent actually writing it probably adds up to about four months total, but i am now restarting it because my writing style has changed a lot and my ideas are much more developed.

i referenced this tiny little picture that i found on tinypic, for the poses but mainly for the lighting. because jesus knows i have issues with lighting in my drawings. also, atticus (in the front) is supposed to be more blurry because i drew it to mimic a movie scene where the focus is on matt. and i drew matt without his lipring because i couldn't get it to look right. haha.

photoshop cs3 & wacom intuos tablet, =yumedust's dusty/swirly brush for the background texture; soundtrack was the dear hunter's [amazing] new cd. about one hundred and thirty minutes or so.
